Erica Green is not you’re average person. She’s someone who has overcome incredible odds to not only walk again but to compete in her second Ironman following brain surgery.
Treadwell Gordon hosted a ‘Three Keys’ event last month, where guests, including some of Treadwell Gordon’s staff and clients, we’re touched by Erica’s inspirational life story.
Erica, a Rangitikei School Teacher, openly shared experiences that have seen her overcome intense adversity and challenges through absolute commitment and determination.
Erica Green, overcoming the odds with strength and determination
Despite being told that she would never walk again after a horrific car accident in 1999, Erica managed to defy doctors predictions and compete in the national NZ Ironman competition just seven years later, in 2007.
Little was she to know that the mental strength, personal goals and extreme will power she used during this time was to be called upon when she was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2014.
Once again, she refused to let adversity get the better of her and went on to complete her second NZ Ironman two short years later, in 2016.
Erica is sponsored by Kellogg's New Zealand, who provide mentoring and training by Kiwi 2008 World Ironman Champion triathlete, Terenzo Bozzone.
“When people tell you that you can’t do something or that it’s impossible, that is when you look deep into your own being and decide that you are the master of your own fate - you set your limits, not anybody else and remember never give up.”
