‘Keeping it local’ with Graham Takarangi & Co. takeover

 

On Monday, April 9, 2018, Treadwell Gordon acquired the Whanganui law firm, Graham Takarangi & Co., owned by the late Graham Takarangi.

 

Mr. Takarangi, who was principal of Graham Takarangi & Co, died on March 12.

 

Richard Austin, a partner in Treadwell Gordon, who worked with Mr. Takarangi over many years, said Mr. Takarangi's commitment to the field of law and to his clients was "remarkable".

Continuing first-class services

"He has helped many in the local community through his law expertise, including acting as a senior counsel for children in the Family Court," said Richard.

 

"It is a privilege to purchase and manage Graham's Whanganui practice. As a fellow local law firm, we're strongly committed to ensuring that the quality of his legal services will endure.”

 

All files and deeds of Graham Takarangi & Co.'s Whanganui practice will be transferred to the Treadwell Gordon head office in Whanganui and all work will be completed at fees previously agreed, confirms Richard.

 

Hayley joins the team

Hayley Lewis, Graham Takarangi & Co's Whanganui legal executive, has joined the 30-strong Treadwell Gordon team in Whanganui.

 

She will be based at Treadwell Gordon’s head office at Wairere House and be the first point of contact for ex-Graham Takarangi & Co. clients.

 

Hayley worked for Mr. Takarangi for about 20 years but says “I’m excited about the new chapter ahead and to be part of a fast-growing and respected law practice such as Treadwell Gordon.”

 

About Graham Takarangi & Co

Mr. Takarangi studied at Victoria University of Wellington and qualified in 1971. He practiced in the Family Court for more than 30 years.

 

Graham Takarangi & Co. was established in 1990 and practiced in Whanganui and Palmerston North. The practice specialised in helping clients with family law, trusts, wills and relationship property as well as residential, commercial and farm sales and purchases.

 

Mr. Takarangi regularly appeared in the district court on criminal and civil matters, the Employment Tribunal and court and before the Maori Land Court at all levels.
