Jim is highly respected in the Waverley community where he commenced practice in 1970 as a staff solicitor for P J M Coleman, he later joined the partnership as Coleman & Co practising in Waverley and Patea. He became a sole practitioner from 1974 to 1988 whereupon he joined Treadwell Gordon in partnership.

Jim now lives and works in Wanganui where he is also well known. He still visits Waverley by arrangement.
